Chief Hearing Officer – City of Chicago Human Resources Board

Contract Position

The City of Chicago Human Resources Board is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as Chief Hearing Officer. The Chief Hearing Officer serves as the primary liaison between the Human Resources Board and its Hearing Officers and provides professional, administrative, and supervisory leadership for the Hearing Officer panel.

The Chief Hearing Officer works closely with the Human Resources Board on matters involving alleged violations of the City's Personnel Rules that may result in employee suspensions or terminations. The position requires substantial knowledge of administrative adjudication, public employment law, procedural fairness, as well as the ability to exercise independent professional judgment while carrying out responsibilities delegated by the Board.
